The Golden Thirteen Naval Scholarship

The Golden Thirteen Naval Scholarship was established in 1994 to provide assistance to African-American individuals pursuing a career in the United States Navy. The Golden Thirteen were the first African-American men commissioned as naval officers in 1944. Applicants must:

  • Be African-American
  • Be enrolled in the Naval ROTC Program at one of the following:
    Allen University, Clark Atlanta University, Dillard University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, Howard University, Huston-Tillotson College, Morehouse College, Norfolk State University, Prairie View A&M University, Savannah State University, Southern University and A&M, Spelman College, Tennessee State University, Texas Southern University, Tuskegee University, Xavier University
  • Demonstrate Financial Need
  • Maintain at least a 2.5 grade point average based on a 4.0 scale
