Kathleen J. Schmidt Memorial Fund

The Kathleen J. Schmidt Scholarship Fund of The Dayton Foundation was established in 2004 to offer financial assistance to high school seniors who attended Herman K. Ankeney Middle School, Beavercreek High School or Carroll High School and who plan to attend any four-year Ohio college or university to earn a degree in teaching. This fund honors the memory of Kathleen Schmidt who received her undergraduate degree from Miami University and her master’s degree from Wright State University. She was a language arts teacher at Herman K. Ankeney Middle School in Beavercreek, Ohio for 25 years. Applicants must:

*Be a graduating high school senior from Beavercreek High School or Carroll High School; or, be a graduating high school senior (from any high school) and attended Herman K. Ankeney Middle School.

  • Plan to be a full-time student majoring in education at any four-year Ohio college or university
  • Have a 3.0 cumulative grade point average on a scale of 4.0
  • Participation in school and community activities
  • Demonstrate financial need
