Dean B. Powell Scholarship Fund

Dean B. Powell established this scholarship to benefit students who have graduated from Carey High School and want to further their education. Dean grew up on a farm just outside of Carey. He was a member of the high school marching band and graduated from Carey High School in 1933. Dean was a farmer and farmed his land until his death in 1998. Dean and his wife Evelyn had no children of their own and always felt they would like to help students in furthering their education. Their dreams are being realized through this scholarship. Be a high school senior or a graduate of Carey High School. Graduates from any year are eligible. For example, graduates of Carey High School who entered the workforce, joined the military or started a family and now wish to continue their formal education are eligible for this scholarship. A minimum 2.5 gpa is required. Applications are available from the Carey High School Guidance office, or by emailing Elizabeth Horner at ehorner@daytonfoundation.org
