Thyrsa Frazier Svager Scholarship Fund

The Thyrsa Frazier Svager Scholarship of the African American Community Foundation of The Dayton Foundation was established to provide scholarship assistance to African American females majoring in mathematics and attending Central State University, Wilberforce University, Wright State University, the University of Dayton, Howard University or Spelman College. Aleksander Svager established the scholarship in memory of his wife, Thyrsa, a former provost and executive vice president of Central State University. Dr. Svager was the one of the first African-American women in the United States to earn her Ph.D. in mathematics.
Criteria:
*African-American women attending Central State University, Wilberforce University, Wright State University, the University of Dayton, Howard University or Spelman College
*Sophomore, Junior or Senior status
*Mathematics major
*Enrolled as a full-time student as determined by the respective institution
*Grade point average of “B” or better
