Muse Machine Carrie Vanderbeek Scholarship
The purpose of this scholarship is to provide financial support to further the education of a student within the Valley View School District who shares Carrie’s great love and enthusiasm for the fine and performing arts. The scholarship shall support higher education for students who plan to major or minor in fine or performing arts. It will be based on the student’s ability to succeed academically and an evaluation of their activities in the fine or performing arts. Fine and performing arts shall be defined as, but not limited to: painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, creative writing, architecture, film studies, music, dance, drama and technical theatre. If the recipient does not attend school within one year of being awarded the scholarship, he/she will forfeit the scholarship unless the one-year delay is due to sickness or disability. In the event that the recipient should receive a full scholarship or its equivalent from another source, the scholarship will be granted to another deserving student. The recipient must continue to major or minor in the fine and/or performing arts (see below) in order to continue receiving the scholarship.
