Kettering Education Foundation - Candy Clark Scholarship
Ms. Candy Clark was employed for 39 years (1974-2013) as a Secondary Art Teacher in the Kettering School District. Her first teaching assignment was at Fairmont East High School (grades 9-12) from where she graduated in the class of 1970. Her next placement was at Kettering Junior High (grades 7-9) which later became Kettering Middle School. She acquired an additional Art “time “with students with very special needs. She taught at both John F. Kennedy Junior High and Indian Riffle Junior High during their final year being Junior Highs. She returned to Fairmont High (grades 10-12) where she taught until her retirement in the Spring of 2013. Throughout her career, she was the Art Club Advisor. She took Art Club students on trips to Chicago, Ill., Washington, D.C. and Pittsburgh, PA.
Applicant’s must:
• Be a graduating senior from Fairmont High School
• Have taken at least two years of art classes with a B or better
• Submit a portfolio of art work with a minimum of three pieces
• Be accepted to a two-year, four-year, technical school or college or university
• Have successful experience being employed or volunteering/community services
• Financial need will be considered if all else is equal

- Have you taken at least two years of art classes with a B or better?
- Which art classes have you taken and what was your grade?
- Submit a minimum of three images of works that represent your artistic abilities (renderings, sketches, models, photographs, drafting, painting, sculptures, etc.) The medium/media used in the works (e. g. acrylic, cardboard, ink, etc.) must be identified. Please also identify the size of the original piece and provide a title. Please upload your portfolio as a .pdf or .doc attachment. Most applicants create a Power Point or Google Slide presentation and convert it to a .pdf for submission. You can also create a presentation in Word for the committee to view. Keep in mind, you cannot upload any Google Docs so make sure to convert to a .pdf format before uploading. Also remember, your file name cannot have any punctuation.
