Joan B. DeLon National Honor Society Scholarship
Joan DeLon was employed by Kettering Schools as an English teacher in the 1960’s-1990’s. She worked at Fairmont West and Kettering Fairmont High School. For many years she was co-advisor to Fairmont’s National Honor Society. She instilled pride in her students and her own children and grandchildren. Her daughter, Sue, is a 5th grade math and science teacher in Springboro; her son, David, is a history teacher and former administrator in Kettering; her oldest granddaughter, Kate, is a science teacher in the Sycamore School District of Hamilton County; her youngest, Beth, is a senior nursing major at the University of Pittsburgh with plans for graduate school and becoming a nurse practitioner.
Applicants must:
• Be a graduating senior from Kettering Fairmont High School
• Be a member of the National Honor Society
• Preference will be given to teacher education majors, but all majors are welcome to apply
• Be accepted to a two-year, four-year, technical school or college or university
• Financial need will be considered if all else is equal
